Govt moving towards real life education: Finance minister

Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has said the current government has implemented the biggest budget allocated for the education sector.

The minister made the remark while attending a policy dialogue with the vice-chancellors of public and private universities organised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) at Brac-CDM in Khagan area under Birulia in Savar on Friday morning.

During the event, Khosru said, “We are truly moving in the direction of real life education. Need-based education is needed both at home and abroad. Quality education will help the country’s development and progress.”

The UGC event, held under the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) project, was attended by at least 60 VCs from public and private universities, along with policymakers, senior government officials, local and foreign educationists, experts and representatives from UGC and the HEAT project.

Prime Minister’s Education Adviser Mahdi Amin, among others, were present during the event.
