How to make Beef Payesh?

Eid-ul-Azha often means beef dishes at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But let’s face it—eating the same thing every day can get boring. To break the monotony and delight your taste buds, try something unique: Beef Payesh, a sweet and savory dessert that adds a creative twist to your Eid menu.

Ingredients:
300 grams beef keema

2.5 cups liquid milk

2 cinnamon sticks

2–3 cardamom pods

2–3 cloves

2 bay leaves

Sugar to taste

Salt to taste

Ghee (clarified butter) as needed

1 cup nut paste (almonds or mixed nuts)

1 tsp crushed ginger

1 tsp crushed garlic

1–2 crushed dried red chilies

½ tsp white pepper powder

For garnish:

Raisins

Chopped cashews

Chopped pistachios

Preparation:
In a pot, boil 2 cups of water with the beef keema and ½ teaspoon of salt. Cook until the meat is tender and the water has evaporated.

Once done, turn off the heat.

In another pan, heat one tablespoon of ghee. Add the bay leaves, cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves. Sauté until fragrant, then add the boiled minced beef.

Fry the beef for a few minutes, then pour in the hot milk and stir to combine.

Once the milk and beef are well mixed, add the nut paste, sugar, and salt. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens.

Remove the pot from heat once thickened.

In a separate pan, heat one teaspoon of ghee. Add the crushed ginger, garlic, dried red chilies, and white pepper powder. Sauté until aromatic.

Mix the spiced ghee mixture thoroughly into the beef and milk mixture.

Pour the beef payesh into serving bowls, garnish with raisins and chopped nuts, and serve warm.

This Eid, surprise your loved ones with something unexpected—a sweet dish made from beef!
