The second day of the 27th National Cricket League (four-day) 2025–26 season witnessed intense battles across all four venues, with the Sylhet Division versus Rangpur Division clash providing the standout contest as the match remains finely poised heading into Day 3.
At Cox’s Bazar International Stadium, Sylhet were bowled out for 199 in 58.3 overs, largely due to an impressive innings from Amite Hasan who scored 91 off 110 balls. Despite regular wickets falling at the other end, Amite’s knock was the backbone of Sylhet’s total, as Rangpur’s disciplined bowling trio of Islam Mukidul Mugdho, Robiul Hoque, and Abdullah Al Mamun each took three wickets to keep Sylhet in check.
Rangpur’s reply showed resilience, finishing Day 2 at 187 for 8 after 66 overs, trailing by 12 runs. Tanbir Hayder top-scored with a patient 49 off 118 balls, while Robiul Hoque (27 not out) and Islam Mukidul Mugdho (0 not out) steadied the innings at the close.
With only two wickets remaining, Rangpur will aim to surpass Sylhet’s first innings total and gain the crucial lead when play resumes.
Elsewhere at the Cox’s Bazar Academy Ground, Mymensingh posted a robust 336 all out, buoyed by Naim Sheikh’s 90 and Shohidul Islam’s vital 79 lower down the order. Dhaka began cautiously in reply, ending the day 17 without loss.
At the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram, Chattogram Division scored 351 all out, thanks to a strong partnership between Paran (91) and Irfan Shukkur (62). Khulna replied solidly with 249 for 8, with Soumya Sarkar’s 92 and Ziaur Rahman’s unbeaten 55 keeping the visitors in contention.
Finally, at Khulna Divisional Stadium, Rajshahi edged Barishal by 23 runs in the first innings after Barishal posted 212. Tanvir Islam’s five-wicket haul kept Barishal competitive, but Rajshahi’s Pritom Kumar top-scored with 65 in their 235-run innings. Barishal started their second innings steadily at 22 for 1.
