Japan has expressed its solidarity with Bangladesh following the recent devastating floods and landslides, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the country’s disaster preparedness and long-term resilience.
In a statement posted on Facebook on Sunday, the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh extended its deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and expressed sincere sympathy to everyone affected by the disasters.
The embassy also wished those injured a speedy recovery and expressed hope that displaced people would be able to return safely to their homes and communities as soon as possible.
Highlighting its longstanding partnership with Bangladesh, Japan said it has worked for many years to strengthen resilience against floods, cyclones and other natural disasters. However, it noted that the recent floods underscored the need for greater efforts to achieve the goal of zero disaster-related casualties.
The embassy reaffirmed Japan’s unwavering commitment to working closely with the Government of Bangladesh, international organisations and non-governmental organisations to enhance disaster preparedness, emergency response, recovery efforts and long-term resilience across the country.
