A Dhaka court on Tuesday shown former central Jubo Mohila League assistant international affairs secretary Khadija Akter Shilpi arrested in a murder case linked to the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ariful Islam passed the order following a police petition, said state counsel Shamsuddoha Sumon.

According to the case documents, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement began in July 2024 demanding reform of the quota system in government jobs, with peaceful programmes held in different parts of the country.

Attacks and repression were carried out against protesters at the direction and instigation of senior leaders of the then Awami League government as part of efforts to suppress the movement.

On 19 July, the accused allegedly carried out a planned attack and indiscriminate firing to the protesters in front of the Fire Service office in Mirpur-10 where a protesters named Sajib was killed.

A murder case was subsequently filed with Mirpur Model Police Station. Khadija Akter Shilpi has been shown arrested in the case as a suspected accused.
