The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has filed a plea seeking seven-day remand of actor Ashraful Haque Don in a case lodged over the murder of popular movie superstar Salman Shah.

Confirming the matter, Sub-Inspector (SI) Shah Alam of the general registration wing of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court said CID Inspector Mojibur Rahman, also the investigation officer of the case, filed the plea on Sunday with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana.

The court, however, fixed 27 August for hearing on the plea in the presence of the accused.

Don was arrested by immigration police on 9 August at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and was later handed over to the CID. He was subsequently sent to jail.

Salman Shah’s maternal uncle, Mohammad Alamgir, popularly known as Alamgir Kumkum filed the case on 21 October 2025 against 11 people, including Salman’s wife Samira Haque, with the capital’s Ramna Police Station under sections 302 and 34 of the Penal Code.

The other accused are: Aziz Mohammad Bhai, Samira’s mother Latifa Haque Lusi, David, Zaved, Faruk, Ruby, A Sattar, Saju and Rijvi Ahmed Farhad.

Earlier on 20 October 2025, Dhaka’s sixth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Jannatul Ferdous Ibn Haque ordered the officer-in-charge (OC) of Ramna Police Station to treat the case filed over the death of Chowdhury Mohammad Shahriar (Emon), popularly known as Salman Shah, as a murder case and submit a report in this regard.

The court, in its order, said that the unnatural death case was hereby cancelled and revoked by order passed on 31 October 2021.
