A Dhaka court on Monday ordered that former Bagerhat-4 MP and Awami League Central leader Amirul Alam Milon, 72, be shown arrested in a case filed over the murder of BNP activist Makbul Hossain.
Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Joshita Islam passed the order, said prosecution department sub-inspector Rukonuzzaman.
Earlier, investigation officer and Detective Branch Sub-Inspector Md Tofazzal Hossain produced the accused before the court and sought an order to show him arrested in the case.
According to the case statement, on 7 December 2022, BNP’s central office in Naya Paltan was raided and extensively vandalised before its announced programme to press home its one-point demand on 10 December.
During the attack, BNP activist Makbul Hossain was shot and died. In connection with the incident, Mahfuzur Rahman filed the case with Paltan Model Police Station on 30 September 2024.
Milon was arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch in May 2025. He has remained in jail since then.
