A Dhaka court on Monday placed Md Roky on a four-day remand in a case filed over the killing and dismemberment of a young woman in the capital’s Sabujbagh area.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasan Sahadat passed the order after police produced the accused before the court and sought a 10-day remand, the prosecution division confirmed.
Earlier, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Albiruni Mir ordered that he be shown arrested in the case. On 21 August, five more accused were placed on remand in the same case.
According to the case documents, police recovered a severed head and two hands of an unidentified woman wrapped in a polythene bag on 6 August from the Bagunbari Culvert area under Sabujbagh Police Station.
The victim was later identified as Suraiya Akter alias Falani, 19, with the help of information technology. Her parents also identified the body from photographs of the severed head and tattoos on both hands.
