Three die with measles symptoms, 1,043 suspected cases recorded in 24hrs

Bangladesh recorded three more deaths with measles symptoms and 1,043 suspected cases in the past 24 hours, the country’s health authorities said on Sunday.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) bulletin, 55 cases of measles were confirmed between 8am Saturday and 8am Sunday, with no confirmed deaths during the same period.

The DGHS said that since 15 March, the total number of confirmed measles cases has stood at 19,696, while suspected cases have reached 164,148.

During the same period, 100 people died from confirmed measles, while 894 deaths were reported among suspected cases, bringing the total fatalities to 994.

Besides, a total of 138,772 patients have recovered so far, the DGHS said.
