Six state-run banks have over Tk1.47 lakh crore default loans: Minister

The six state-owned commercial banks in the country cumulatively have more than Tk1.47 lakh crore in default loans, said Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury at a parliamentary session on Sunday.

The finance minister revealed the default data in response to a question presented by Bagerhat-4 lawmaker Abdul Alim, with Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal in the chair.

Among the six banks, Janata Bank PLC has the largest amount of default loans at Tk75,396 crore.
