A new skills development institute, named the Potua Quamrul Hassan Skills Development Institute (PQHSDI), is being established in the capital with the aim of developing the skills of the younger generation and creating future entrepreneurs, inspired by the artistic vision, creativity and dedication of renowned Bangladeshi artist Potua Quamrul Hassan.
The institute is expected to begin its activities soon in Sector 3 of Uttara, Dhaka. According to the organisers, it will operate as a completely non-profit initiative. The information was disclosed in a press release issued on Saturday.
Potua Quamrul Hassan made an outstanding contribution to Bangladesh’s art and cultural heritage. His name is associated with several important national designs, including the present form of the national flag and the national emblem. The institute has been established with the objective of passing on his artistic ideals, patriotism, creativity and dedication to work to the younger generation.
The initiative will be led and managed by Sumona Hassan, the only daughter of Potua Quamrul Hassan. She is the proprietor of Studio 2000 and Studio Menz and serves as the General Secretary of the Beauty Service Owners Association of Bangladesh (BSOAB).
According to the organisers, the institute will initially provide free training to students interested in pursuing careers in various fields of Bangladesh’s beauty industry. The institute also plans to provide trainees with necessary facilities and support during their training.
The primary objective of the institute is to equip students with job-ready skills, create employment opportunities and help them establish themselves as entrepreneurs in the future. Particular emphasis will be placed on involving young men and women who have limited access to opportunities for skills development.
In the future, the institute is planned to be transformed into an integrated centre for information technology, fine arts and technical skills development. By combining technological knowledge, artistic creativity and technical training, the initiative aims to prepare young people for future employment opportunities while creating avenues for self-employment.
The institute will also provide aspiring entrepreneurs with the necessary guidance and support to launch and develop their own ventures, helping them become skilled professionals and successful entrepreneurs.
