Education Minister leaves for France to attend UNESCO Digital Learning Week

Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon left Dhaka for France on Sunday night to attend UNESCO’s Digital Learning Week 2026 in Paris.

The four-day event, organised by UNESCO, will be held from September 8 to 11 at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris under the theme “Education in the age of AI: Facts, Frictions, Frontiers”.

The programme will bring together education ministers, policymakers, experts, educators and other stakeholders to discuss the growing impact of artificial intelligence on education and the future of digital learning. UNESCO says more than 25 education ministers are expected to participate in the event, which will also include the adoption of a joint ministerial statement on sustaining education as a common good in the age of AI.

Minister Milon is scheduled to participate in two plenary sessions at UNESCO headquarters on 8 and 9 September, according to officials.

The 2026 edition of Digital Learning Week will examine three broad areas: what constitutes reliable knowledge in an era of AI-generated content, the challenges AI is creating for education systems, and emerging opportunities including public-interest AI, digital sovereignty and community-led approaches.

UNESCO describes Digital Learning Week as its annual flagship event on digital learning and the transformation of education. The 2026 programme will also feature public lectures, plenary and parallel sessions, demonstrations, futures workshops and the UNESCO ICT in Education Prize ceremony.

The minister is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on 13 September.
