The Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi has expressed shock and conveyed its deepest condolences following the tragic collapse of a building in Satya Niketan, New Delhi.

In a statement on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday (7 September), the High Commission extended its deepest sympathy to the bereaved families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in the incident.

It also expressed solidarity with the injured and those feared to be trapped under the debris, saying its thoughts and prayers were with all those affected.

“At this difficult hour, the High Commission stands in solidarity with all women, men and children in distress and affected by this tragic accident,” it said.

The death toll rose to six after another body was recovered during late-night rescue operations. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Fire Service, Delhi Police and other agencies are continuing efforts to clear the debris and ascertain whether anyone remains trapped.

According to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, 12 people have so far been recovered from the collapsed structure, of whom six died while the remaining six were stable.
