Police have recently submitted a charge sheet against 30 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, in a case filed over an attempted murder during the July uprising in the capital’s Jatrabari area.
Police also recommended that 66 accused be discharged from the case as their involvement in the offence could not be established during the investigation.
The investigation officer, Sub-Inspector Ibrahim Khalil, submitted the charge sheet, and the court has fixed 19 September for a hearing on its acceptance, said a source at the prosecution division.
Apart from Sheikh Hasina, the other accused include former ministers Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Obaidul Quader and Advocate Qamrul Islam, former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, former DMP commissioner Habibur Rahman, former DB chief of Dhaka Harun-or-Rashid, former DMP joint commissioner Biplab Kumar Sarker and former Bangladesh Chhatra League president Saddam Hossain.
According to the case statement, on 19 July, 2024, Nadim took part in the anti-discrimination student movement at the Rayerbagh bus stand area under Jatrabari Police Station.
Nadim sustained a gunshot wound to his left knee when the protesters came under attack and gunfire allegedly fired by the accused. Nadim received treatment and later recovered.
