Faruk Wasif reappointed PIB director general

Journalist and writer Faruk Wasif has been reappointed director general (DG) of the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) for another year.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification on Monday appointing him on a contractual basis under Section 9(2) of the Press Institute Bangladesh Act, 2018.

His reappointment is subject to relinquishing any other profession, business or employment with any government, semi-government or private institution or organisation.

The appointment will take effect from the date he joins the post, while other terms and conditions will be determined through a contract, according to the notification.

The interim government appointed Faruk Wasif as PIB DG for a two-year term on 18 September 2024.

He is known as a journalist and writer and had served as planning editor of Daily Samakal before his appointment to the PIB post.
