Prime Minister’s Adviser and his office spokesperson Mahdi Amin said gas supply had increased following a meeting between the prime minister and business leaders and media representatives.

He made the statement at a special press conference at the Karabi Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon on Wednesday, where he highlighted the government’s key achievements over the past month.

Mahdi Amin said the prime minister’s goal was to resolve the gas crisis, restart industrial operations and maintain the country’s economic progress.

He said, “The prime minister recently held discussions with 21 top leaders of the country’s major business and industrial organisations and representatives of some media outlets. During the meeting, the prime minister assured them that maximum efforts would be made to resolve the gas supply crisis quickly and restore the situation to normal.”

“The implementation of the prime minister’s assurance has begun within a very short time. Gas supply has increased significantly since yesterday. The visible improvement in gas supply is expected to continue in the coming days,” Mahdi Amin said.

Highlighting the government’s activities over the past month, he said various welfare initiatives were not merely achievements of a particular period but part of a long-term commitment to building a prosperous and merit-based Bangladesh.

He said the prime minister was demonstrating commitment and planning to remove complexities in the existing governance system, take services to people’s doorsteps, establish the rule of law, and ensure transparency and accountability at every level of the state.

He claimed that these initiatives had also received appreciation internationally.

Mahdi Amin also claimed that Bangladesh had gained recognition as a stable country for investment and that inflation was moving in a positive direction. He said prices of essential commodities had fallen and diesel was cheaper in Bangladesh than in many countries, including neighbouring ones.

He said technical education had been made compulsory up to Class VI, while an initiative had been taken to establish a public university in Cox’s Bazar for research on the blue economy.

The government has also taken an initiative to introduce rooftop gardening programmes at all educational institutions, he said.

Mahdi Amin further said a pay scale ranging from Tk20,000 to Tk156,000 had been implemented for government financial benefits.

He said an inheritance law for property had also been enacted.

The adviser said the government was planning to establish a specialised public university in Cox’s Bazar. He added that a process was under way to provide lunch to students of Qawmi and Alia madrasas to ensure adequate nutrition, with the programme initially scheduled to continue from 2027 to 2031.

He also said the government was working to appoint government veterinary doctors in every union and relocate the wholesale market at Kawran Bazar to Gabtoli.

Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Saleh Shibli, Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman and relevant officials were present at the press conference.
