Mild heatwave sweeping over country

A mild heatwave is sweeping over different parts of the country.

“A mild heatwave is sweeping over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Dhaka, Tangail, Manikgonj, Kishoregonj, Rajshahi, Sirajgonj, Rangpur, Nilphamari, Chandpur, Feni, Jashore, Chuadanga, Kushtia, Satkhira, Khulna, Barishal & Patuakhali and it may abate from some places,” said a Met office bulletin issued on Wednesday morning.

Besides, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) forecast rain in different parts of the country over the next 24 hours, starting at 9 am.

“Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Dhaka, Khulna & Barishal divisions,” the bulletin said.

It also said moderately heavy falls may occur at places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

Day and night temperatures may fall slightly over the country.

The highest temperature on Tuesday was 37.5 degrees Celsius in Feni, while today’s minimum temperature is 24 degrees Celsius in Bandarban.

In the last 24 hours (till 06 am today), the highest rainfall of 42 millimetres occurred in Bandarban.

The sun sets at 6:01 pm today and rises at 5:45 am tomorrow in Dhaka.
