Holy Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated across the country on Thursday, but rainfall may dampen the festive mood.
Meteorologists have forecast intermittent rain from morning in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Sylhet, and Mymensingh divisions.
Senior meteorologist Dr Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik told the media that intermittent rainfall is expected in the capital and several northern and northeastern divisions on Eid morning.
He said light drizzles are more likely unless there is heavy rainfall. Comparatively less rain is expected in Chattogram, Barishal, and Khulna divisions.
He explained that before the monsoon becomes fully active during the Bengali month of Jaishtha, cloud formation and rainfall commonly occur across Bangladesh and surrounding regions.
The meteorologist also said there is no possibility of a cyclone or low-pressure system this week. However, a low-pressure area may develop over the southeastern Bay of Bengal around the middle of the first week of June, which could bring rainfall across the country again.
Meanwhile, according to the forecast from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, most parts of the country, including the capital, may experience temporary gusty winds accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rain or thundershowers on Eid day.
The forecast also warns that some areas of the country could experience moderately heavy to heavy rainfall.
