London College of Legal Studies (LCLS) North has launched the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol)’s LLB franchise programme in Bangladesh, enabling students to pursue a British law degree locally.

The launch and signing ceremony was held at Gulshan Club on Thursday evening, bringing together members of the judiciary, barristers, advocates, legal practitioners, academics and other figures from the country’s legal community.

Under the partnership, students will be able to pursue UWE Bristol’s LLB (Hons) programme at LCLS North and earn a British university qualification without relocating abroad. The programme is expected to provide a more cost-efficient pathway to internationally recognised legal education.

LCLS North has provided British legal education in Bangladesh for more than two decades and is a Registered Teaching Centre of the University of London.

The agreement was formally signed by Shilan Shah-Davis, Academic Director of Law at UWE Bristol, and Barrister Asif Rahmatullah, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh, Managing Partner of LCLS North and Lex Aquilia Chambers.

The partnership is expected to further expand access to British legal education in Bangladesh and strengthen academic ties between the two countries.
