Md Fazlul Hoque, a former president of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), on Sunday joined as the administrator of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
The Ministry of Commerce confirmed the appointment in a message on Sunday.
As per the message, Fazlul Hoque has been appointed in line with the ministry’s order issued last week.
Fazlul would ensure the continuity of the activities of the country’s apex trade body and safeguard the interests of trade, commerce and industry, the ministry said.
As per the ministry’s directive, the newly appointed administrator has been entrusted with conducting a fair, transparent and neutral election at the FBCCI within 120 days and handing over the responsibilities to the newly elected board.
A veteran business leader, Fazlul Hoque has long been associated with the country’s readymade knitwear sector.
