Local miscreants launched an attack on the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) administrator, and local lawmaker in the capital’s Uttara on Sunday, but failed to cause any injury.
Md Jakir Hossain, public relations officer at DNCC, confirmed the development in a message to media.
The assailants threw brick chips at the high-ranking officials, but failed to hit the target, Jakir Hossain added.
DNCC Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan, as well as Dhaka-18 lawmaker and BNP leader SM Jahangir Hossain had gone to Rajbari STS area in Uttarkhan under Uttar to settle a morning dispute between the locals and DNCC cleaners.
They also sought accountability for the attack during the dispute that left some DNCC cleaners injured.
However, a group of “terrorists” suddenly exited the “factory floor” and attacked Shafiqul and SM Jahangir Hossain, DNCC said in its official Facebook page.
After visiting the attack site, DNCC administrator directed the authorities to launch a speedy investigation into the morning attacks on cleaners.
Police later detained three people on allegations of attacking the cleaners.
DNCC administrator visited the injured cleaners at the Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital and directed the doctors to ensure maximum possible treatment.
He also stressed ensuring security for the DNCC workers.
Earlier in the day, the locals engaged in a clash with DNCC workers, leaving some cleaners injured and hospitalised.
