Bangladesh Police issues highest alert over possible attacks on government vehicles

Bangladesh Police Headquarters has placed all police units across the country on the highest alert amid intelligence reports warning of possible activities by banned organisations.

According to sources at Police Headquarters, field-level units have been instructed to remain on maximum vigilance to prevent any potential acts of sabotage or attacks targeting police and other government vehicles.

The emergency directive of highest alert, issued on Saturday, follows intelligence indicating that police jeeps, pick-up trucks, buses and other government vehicles could be targeted in Dhaka and elsewhere across the country.

Under the new security measures, any police vehicle that needs to stop while on duty must be parked only in secure locations. Security has also been reinforced for government vehicles stationed at police stations, police lines, office compounds and other designated premises after duty hours.

Bangladesh Police units have been ordered to intensify routine patrols, strengthen surveillance and maintain heightened vigilance to detect any suspicious individuals, vehicles or objects around key installations.

The headquarters also instructed officers to report any suspicious activity or intelligence immediately to higher authorities to ensure a swift and coordinated response.

The nationwide alert comes as law enforcement agencies continue to strengthen security measures to prevent any attempt to disrupt public order or target state assets.
