At least two Bangladeshi nationals have been killed in an attack by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi militant group on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
At least 12 people were killed and more than 300 others injured in the attack.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh is trying to identify the two Bangladeshi expatriates who were killed. In addition, 11 Bangladeshis are still reported missing. Officials fear that the number of casualties could rise further.
An embassy source said it had received information confirming the deaths of two Bangladeshi nationals in the attack on King Khalid International Airport. However, the embassy has yet to confirm their identities.
A source in Riyadh claimed that a group of 41 Bangladeshi Umrah pilgrims had been waiting at King Khalid International Airport to travel from Riyadh to Jeddah when the attack took place.
Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority said operations at the airport had been temporarily suspended following the attack.
