Govt transfers 11 joint secretaries

The government on Friday transferred nine government officials holding the ranks of joint secretaries to different positions, and also appointed two other equally ranked officials as joint secretaries.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued 11 separate notifications in this regard.

Md Sabet Ali, director general (joint secretary) of the Hydrocarbon Unit under the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, has been appointed as a joint secretary of the same division. SM Tuhinur Alam, who has been serving as Chairman of the Rajshahi Development Authority, has been attached to the Ministry of Public Administration for further posting. In addition, Joint Secretary Md Abul Hossain, who recently joined the Ministry of Public Administration after completing a deputation assignment, has been appointed as MDS of the National Academy for Development Administration (NADA).

At the same time, Md Oliur Rahman, a joint secretary attached to the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, has been appointed a director of the Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB). Syed Farhad Hossain, director of the Department of Environment, has been posted as Project Director (PD) of the “Bir Nibash” project which involves the construction of housing for insolvent freedom fighters.

Furthermore, DM Atikur Rahman, joint secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat, has been appointed Director General (DG) of the newly formed Directorate of July Mass Uprising, and his service has been placed under the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.

On the other hand, Md Zahirul Islam Khan, a joint secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, has been appointed director of the Government Housing Directorate. Begum Shahana Akhtar Jahan, deputy director of the Agricultural Marketing Office in Rajshahi Division, has been appointed managing director (MD) of Rajshahi WASA. In addition, Ershad Hossain Khan, director of the Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation, has been appointed deputy managing director (DMD) of Dhaka WASA.
