Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen on Tuesday held talks with Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury and State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Newaz Mahmud Khaiyam, with both sides expressing their commitment to further strengthening cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral collaboration in culture and the arts, according to a statement issued by the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka.
Cultural Affairs Secretary Kaniz Moula also attended the meeting.
During the discussion, Ambassador Yao said cultural exchanges are an important pillar of China-Bangladesh relations and play an irreplaceable role in fostering mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries and strengthening their longstanding friendship.
He expressed hope that China and Bangladesh would work together to elevate bilateral cultural exchanges to a higher level.
The Bangladeshi side appreciated the progress made in cultural exchanges between the two countries in recent years and expressed interest in expanding cooperation through greater experience-sharing and mutual learning.
The two sides also discussed enhancing practical collaboration in areas including culture and the arts, as well as the preservation of intangible cultural heritage, the statement said.
