Pori Moni now country’s most followed celeb on Facebook

Actress Pori Moni has achieved a new milestone on social media, overtaking former Bangladesh cricket captain Shakib Al Hasan to become the country’s most-followed celebrity on Facebook.

One of the most talked-about figures in Bangladesh’s entertainment industry, Pori Moni has remained in the spotlight for nearly a decade. While her career has frequently made headlines, her personal life has often attracted even greater public attention.

According to the latest figures, Pori Moni’s official Facebook page has surpassed 17 million followers, while Shakib Al Hasan’s page has crossed 16 million, giving the actress a lead of around one million followers.

The two celebrities were neck and neck in follower count last year, with Shakib briefly reclaiming the top spot. However, the latest statistics show that Pori Moni has pulled ahead to set a new record as the most-followed Bangladeshi personality on Facebook.

The two stars also differ significantly in their Facebook activity. Shakib’s page follows only six individuals and organisations, including football icon Lionel Messi, Bangladesh cricketers Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad and Rubel Hossain, along with the Shakib Al Hasan Foundation and Fortune Barisal.

In contrast, Pori Moni’s Facebook page follows 161 individuals and organisations. Her list includes Lionel Messi, actors Shakib Khan, Shabnur, Hrithik Roshan, Vidya Balan, Katrina Kaif, Vicky Kaushal, and Taylor Swift, alongside other local and international celebrities.
