A Dhaka court on Thursday imposed a travel ban on absconding Bangladesh Awami Jubo League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash, his wife Nahid Sultana and another person, Tajnin Wahab Brishti.
Dhaka Senior Special Judge Mohammad Shahjahan Kabir passed the order, said Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Public Relations Officer Md Tanzir Ahmed.
Earlier, ACC Deputy Director AKM Mahbubur Rahman filed a petition seeking the travel ban against them in the interest of a fair investigation.
According to the ACC petition, an allegation that Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash carried out transactions involving a huge amount of money through bank accounts in his own name and those of individuals and entities linked to his interests and acquired illegal wealth through money laundering is currently under investigation.
The petition sought the travel ban, citing that the ACC had learnt that the accused persons were trying to flee abroad and that if they left, the investigation was likely to be hampered.
