Bangladesh has taken an initiative to send relief supplies to Nepal as humanitarian assistance for people affected by the recent devastating landslides and flash floods in the country.
The relief items include tents, mosquito nets, packets of dry food, torchlights, shovels, sleeping bags, water containers and body bags, among other essential supplies, said an official handout on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman phoned his Nepalese counterpart Shisir Khanal to convey Bangladesh’s condolences and solidarity over the devastating flash floods and landslides that caused deaths and destruction in Nepal.
Khalilur also assured Shisir Khanal that Bangladesh stands ready to provide any assistance Nepal may require in dealing with the aftermath of the disaster.
