
Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and most other platforms operated by Meta have resumed normal operations after experiencing a widespread outage that lasted for nearly an hour.
Reports of the disruption began emerging around 7:15pm Bangladesh time on Friday, with services returning to normal at around 8:15pm.
According to data submitted to US-based outage tracking platform Downdetector, complaints about problems using Facebook services began to rise sharply after 7:21pm.
The majority of reports were related to difficulties using the Facebook app. Downdetector statistics showed that 56% of complaints were app-related, while 26% of users reported login issues. Another 11% reported problems accessing the website.
Users from different parts of the world, including the United States, Canada, Romania, Myanmar, several Middle Eastern countries and the Philippines, reported service disruptions.
Many users said they were unable to launch the Facebook app, log into their accounts or use the platform normally during the outage.
Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and Messenger, has not yet disclosed the cause of the disruption.
