Three more die of dengue, 512 hospitalised in 24hrs

Three more deaths were reported from dengue in the past 24 hours till Tuesday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 47 this year.

In the 24-hour span, 512 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the total caseload to 14,156 in 2026.

The fatalities, which included two women and a man, were reported in Chattogram and Rajshahi divisions, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the latest cases, 75 patients were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 75 in Chattogram division, 40 in Dhaka division, 85 under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 76 under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 84 in Khulna division, 13 in Mymensingh division, 34 in Rajshahi division, 28 in Rangpur division, and one in Sylhet division.

DGHS data shows that men account for 61.5% of infections so far this year, while women represent 38.5%.

Currently, 1,100 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.

According to official data, Bangladesh recorded 102,861 dengue cases and 413 deaths from the mosquito-borne disease in 2025.

In 2024, the country reported 101,214 dengue infections and 575 deaths.

The previous year (2023) saw the country’s worst outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths and 321,179 hospitalisations.
