A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official said on Tuesday that the Malaysian Cricket Association had approached the BCB requesting a bilateral series on Bangladesh soil, an offer board  president Tamim Iqbal agreed to honour.

It has since been learned that the Malaysia team will arrive in Bangladesh on 5 August for a two-match T20 series against the Australia-bound Bangladesh A side, to be held at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Bashundhara Sports City will then host three one-day matches between Malaysia and a Bangladesh side assembled mostly of Under-23 cricketers.

“Bangladesh A will play two T20 matches ahead of the Top End T20 series in Australia. It will serve as preparation for the A team tour,” said a member of the selection panel.

“Then we will try to pick players from the last two Under-19 World Cup squads who are currently around the Under-23 level. A few might be slightly over 23, but most will be around that age. They will have a camp under Naveed Nawaz before the series and the three matches against Malaysia,” he added.
