BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince has said the party has neither forgotten nor denied any pledge made to the people.

He made the remarks at a joint meeting of senior leaders of BNP’s 12 union units in Haluaghat upazila on Friday evening.

Referring to recent criticism by an opposition leader over BNP’s pre-election pledges, Prince said the party remained committed to fulfilling promises made to the people during its 15-year anti-fascist movement and since its founding.

“BNP has no history of breaking its promises,” he said.

Prince said BNP had signed the July Charter and was committed to its implementation. He claimed that several pledges had already begun to be implemented, including the introduction of Family and Farmer Cards, financial incentives for religious leaders, waiver of agricultural loans of up to Tk10,000, steps to address fuel and gas shortages and approval of a new pay scale for government employees.

He also cited commitments to increase people’s purchasing power, curb corruption and human rights violations, prioritise education and healthcare, create jobs for unemployed youths, reopen closed factories and ensure balanced development and public security.

Urging opposition leaders not to mislead the public, Prince called on them to participate in the parliamentary and constitutional process for implementing the July Charter.

“Everyone has the right to criticise, but no one has the right to mislead the people. BNP is implementing its promises through action, not words,” he said.
