Mohakhali and Dhanmondi building fire brought under control

A fire that broke out in an old building behind the British American Tobacco building in the capital’s Mohakhali area was brought under control at around 12:40pm on Thursday.

Three units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence worked to bring the blaze under control, said Talha Bin Jasim, an officer of the Fire Service headquarters’ media cell.

The cause of the fire and the extent of damage could not be determined immediately.

No casualties have been reported so far.

The Fire Service received the report of the fire at around 11:12am on Thursday (10 September).

Meanwhile, a fire that broke out at a six-storey building on Road 27 in Dhanmondi was brought under control.
The fire was reported in the morning, and several units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence were dispatched to the scene.
After nearly two hours of firefighting efforts, the blaze was brought under control at around 12:00pm.
The Fire Service and Civil Defence said five units worked to bring the blaze under control.
Initially, two units reached the scene after receiving information about the fire at around 10:05am and began firefighting operations. Three more units later joined them.
The cause of the fire and the extent of damage could not be determined immediately.
