PM congratulates Tigers on historic Test win in Australia

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has congratulated the Bangladesh national cricket team on their historic nine-wicket victory over Australia in the first Test in Darwin, marking the Tigers’ first-ever Test win on Australian soil.

Bangladesh completed the landmark victory on Sunday, defeating the hosts by nine wickets in the series opener. The win came 23 years after Bangladesh last played a Test in Australia.

The Prime Minister was travelling to Kishoreganj when Bangladesh sealed the historic victory. Following the match, he spoke to the players over a video call and congratulated them on their memorable achievement.

He also conveyed his greetings and congratulations to the players on behalf of the people of Bangladesh.

Tarique Rahman said Bangladesh’s victory over a strong Australian side on their home ground was a matter of immense pride for the country and its cricket.

He attributed the success to the players’ determination, confidence, skill and collective team effort.

The Prime Minister congratulated the Bangladesh team, coaching staff and all those involved in securing the historic victory.

He expressed hope that the Tigers would maintain their strong performance in the next Test and capitalise on the opportunity to win the series.

Bangladesh had previously defeated Australia in a Test at Mirpur in 2017. However, the Darwin Test victory was Bangladesh’s first Test win in Australia, marking a historic milestone for the Tigers in international cricket.
