From ‘Hawa’ to ‘ANNiE’: Nazifa Tushi continues to reinvent herself

Artiste Nazifa Tushi continues to surprise the audience with her versatile performances, establishing herself as one of the most promising talents in the country’s entertainment industry.

After making a powerful impact on the big screen with the critically acclaimed film “Hawa”, she won the hearts of millions again with her performance in “Pressure Cooker”, released during Eid-ul-Fitr.

This Eid-ul-Azha, she has remained in the spotlight through “Roid”. Now, Tushi is set to captivate audiences in an entirely different avatar in acclaimed filmmaker Abdullah Mohammad Saad’s upcoming miniseries “ANNiE”.

The official trailer of “ANNiE” was unveiled on Monday night, offering viewers a haunting glimpse into a dystopian and unsettling world shaped by fear, hatred and survival.

Directed by Saad, best known internationally for “Rehana Maryam Noor”, the series presents a gripping narrative that blends personal tragedy with broader social unrest.

Nazifa Tushi takes on the title role of Annie, a young nurse struggling to protect and care for her five siblings amid a rapidly deteriorating society.

However, a horrifying attack turns her world upside down, forcing her into an emotional battle against the hatred growing both within herself and in the world around her.

As she grapples with grief, trauma and anger, Annie descends into a darkness where revenge appears to be the only path forward.

According to a press release from the production team, “ANNiE” has been crafted in the style of a chamber drama. Staying true to the thematic concerns explored in Saad’s previous works, the miniseries delves into issues of inequality, mistrust and social violence embedded within male-female relationships.

Through its intimate storytelling and thought-provoking narrative, the creators believe the series will resonate not only with local audiences but also with viewers around the world.

The ensemble cast of “ANNiE” features several prominent names alongside Nazifa Tushi, including Yash Rohan, Symon Sadik, Sarika Sabrin, Farhana Mithu and Najah.
