Visa delay halts Tiger U-19 departure

Bangladesh Under-19 team’s scheduled departure for Oman on Saturday night has been postponed due to delays in visa issuance, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said in a media release on the same day.

The junior Tigers were due to play a five-match Youth One Day International series against Afghanistan, with matches scheduled for 13, 15, 18, 20 and 23 October at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground.

According to the BCB, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) have informed their Bangladeshi counterpart that it is awaiting the necessary approval from the Omani authorities.

The visa process began in early September and is being coordinated through the ACB. The BCB said the issuance of visas was beyond their control.

The board added that the squad remained ready to travel and that the necessary arrangements would be made as soon as the visas were issued.

The delay comes ahead of another important assignment in Oman, where Bangladesh are scheduled to compete in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup beginning on 5 November.

After completing the bilateral series, the junior Tigers are expected to return home before travelling back to Oman on 2 November for the continental tournament.
