Four children died from measles symptoms and six other people from dengue in the 24 hours till 8am on Sunday morning, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With the latest fatalities the total death tolls from the measles and dengue outbreaks reached 1,057 and 184, respectively.

During 8am Saturday-8am Sunday, 1,593 people were hospitalised with dengue, and 1,587 others were discharged from hospitals following recovery.

So far this year, total 61,972 people have been hospitalised with dengue, and among them, 57,610 have secured discharges from hospitals.

The monthly death toll is on course to top 100 in September, which is witnessing the highest toll at 87, more than double the fatalities recorded in August at 43.

In the measles outbreak, 956 children have died from measles symptoms since 15 March, and 101 other children from confirmed measles.

During 8am Saturday-8am Sunday, 1,148 new patients were recorded in the measles outbreak, taking the total caseload to 1,79,814 in just over six months.
