Former President Mohammed Shahabuddin Chuppu on Sunday vacated Bangabhaban, the official presidential residence, two days after resigning from office.

He left Bangabhaban at 2:25pm for his private residence, Green Villa, in Gulshan, Dhaka.

Shahabuddin Chuppu resigned as President on 24 July. Although he was elected to serve a five-year term under the Constitution, he remained in office for three years and three months.

During his tenure, he carried out constitutional responsibilities and attended various state functions. His resignation formally brought an end to his presidency, while Sunday’s departure marked the end of his stay at the official presidential residence.

Shahabuddin Chuppu was Bangladesh’s 22nd president. He assumed office on 24 April 2023 and resigned on 24 July 2026.

Following his resignation, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed was appointed acting president in accordance with the Constitution through an official government notification.
