
The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Bangladesh Office held the 2026 World Friends Korea (WFK) Host Organisation Workshop at Sheraton Hotel in Dhaka’s Banani area.
The event brought together representatives of Technical Training Centers (TTCs), University language institutes, Korean language teachers, and host organisation partners to strengthen collaboration under the WFK Volunteer Programme.
Distinguished guests included Ireen Pervin, deputy secretary of Economic Relations Division (ERD), and Mohammad Nuruzzaman, deputy director (Training) of Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET).
Country Director Jihoon Kim presided over the opening ceremony, emphasising the importance of host organisation partnerships in making volunteer contributions effective and impactful.
He also emphasised the Korean cultural exchange through the WFK Volunteer Programme in Bangladesh.
Ireen Pervin lauded the collaborative efforts of all partner institutions and encouraged participants to share insights for strengthening the programme’s sustainability.
Discussion sessions throughout the day were focused on cultural cooperation and future collaboration with the WFK partner organisation.
Participants from different institutions across the country shared their views through group discussion on core competencies expected of volunteers. The closing remarks were delivered by Deputy Country Director Junsu Kim.
This year’s workshop remarkably featured expanded participation from TTCs and university language institutes across Bangladesh, all hosting KOICA volunteers in Korean language instruction, reflecting the programme’s growing reach in human resource development.
