Faridpur diabetic association’s executive body dismissed, convening committee formed

The executive committee of the “Faridpur Diabetic Association” has been suspended on charges of anti-constitutional activities and irregularities.

At the same time, a new five-member supervisory (convener) committee has been formed under the leadership of Dr Mostafizur Rahman Shamim.

This information was confirmed through a press release issued by the Faridpur District Social Services Office.

The other four members of the committee are Dr Ali Akbar Halder, Engineer Md Shahidul Hasan, Professor Md Abdut Tawab and Farian Yusuf.

According to sources at the District Social Services Office, an investigation was initiated against the organization following allegations of violation of the provisions of the Voluntary Social Welfare Organizations (Registration and Control) Ordinance, 1961 and unconstitutional activities. On the instructions of the Department of Social Services, Assistant Director of the District Social Services Office, Md Abu Taher, was appointed as the investigating officer.

When the investigation found the allegations true, two separate reports were sent from the District Social Services Office to the Director General (Director) of the Department of Social Services on August 9 and 19 of this year.

Based on the review of the report, the Department of Social Services issued an office order on 29 August. In the order, the previous executive committee was suspended under Section 9(1) of the Voluntary Social Welfare Organizations (Registration and Control) Ordinance, 1961. In accordance with Section 9(2) of the same Ordinance, a new 5-member convening committee/supervisory board was approved to run the association.

This newly formed committee is expected to quickly take over the administrative and service activities of the Diabetic Association and restore order to the organization.
