A Burmese python measuring around 12 feet in length and weighing nearly 14kg was rescued after getting trapped in a safety net in Boalkhali upazila of Chattogram on Tuesday.

The snake was rescued from a garden in the Bottola area of East Charandwip village under Charandwip Union at around 10:30am.

According to locals, the python became entangled in the garden’s safety net in the morning. On information, members of the Wildlife and Snake Rescue Team arrived at the spot and later rescued the snake.

Rescue team member Amir Hossain Shawon said the team reached the site after receiving the information and safely freed the python by cutting through the net at around 10:30am.

Following a decision by local residents, the snake was later released in an agricultural field in the area.

Shawon said the rescued snake was a Burmese python, weighing around 14kg and measuring approximately 12 feet in length.
