State Minister for Health MA Muhit said on Wednesday that the dengue outbreak may peak from the end of this month to the first week of next month.
He made the remarks at a discussion marking World Suicide Prevention Day at the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) in the capital.
“Dengue deaths are in no way desirable. So far, 300 doctors have been trained, and civil surgeons have been instructed to take necessary measures,” the state minister said.
He said sufficient stocks of saline and dengue test kits were available in anticipation of a rise in cases, adding that the government would increase the stocks if necessary.
The government has already arranged additional hospital beds, while private hospital owners have also been asked to keep beds ready, he added.
