Five more deaths were reported from dengue in the past 24 hours till Monday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 18 this year.

In the 24-hour span, 124 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the total caseload to 5,924 in 2026.

Among the fatalities – three women and two men – two were reported in Chattogram division, and one each in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and Mymensingh division, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the latest cases, 37 were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 28 in Chattogram division, two in Dhaka division, 16 under DNCC, 17 under DSCC, 14 in Khulna division, two in Mymensingh division, and eight in Rajshahi division.

DGHS data shows that men account for 62.1% of infections so far this year, while women represent 37.9%.

Currently, 451 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.

According to official data, Bangladesh recorded 102,861 dengue cases and 413 deaths from the mosquito-borne disease in 2025.

In 2024, the country reported 101,214 dengue infections and 575 deaths.

The previous year (2023) saw the country’s worst outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths and 321,179 hospitalisations.
