Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will go to Cox’s Bazar on a daylong tour on Saturday to join several programmes.

“Honourable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will go to Cox’s Bazar by air on Saturday,” said Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.

After landing in Cox’s Bazar, he said, the prime minister will participate in various programmes.

During the visit, the premier is scheduled to inaugurate the re-excavation work of Patli Canal in Pankhali union in Chakaria and to launch the nationwide tree plantation programme at Malumghat Reserve Forest as part of the government’s plan to plant 25 crore trees over the next five years across the country.

Ruman said the prime minister will return to Dhaka by air at night.

This will be the first visit of Tarique to Cox’s Bazar after assuming office as prime minister.

According to the tour schedule, Tarique will visit Pekua to offer Ziarat at the grave of July mass uprising martyr Md Wasim and meet members of his family there.

Besides, he is also scheduled to lay the foundation stones of the newly established Pekua municipality and Matamuhuri upazila.

In the afternoon, the prime minister will address a public rally organised by BNP at the Chakaria upazila bus terminal.

In the evening, the prime minister will inspect the Marine Drive road and the sea beach. Later, he will attend a civic rally at a hotel there before departing for the capital.
