Govt to celebrate July fighters as part of nationwide events marking July Uprising Day

The government has taken extensive programmes to celebrate July Uprising Day nationally this year.

The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has sent necessary directives to various ministries, divisions, departments, agencies and field administrations to celebrate “July Uprising Day 2026” with due dignity and extensive programmes.

As part of the events, the government is set to recognise the sacrifices made by July fighters through a reception on 5 August.

The minutes of the inter-ministerial meeting held on this occasion have been sent to all relevant institutions, and they have been requested to take subsequent action according to the decisions.

This information was conveyed recently in a letter signed by Shabnam Mustari Rikta, deputy secretary of the Administration-2 Branch of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.

The letter further mentioned that the minutes of the inter-ministerial meeting held on 3 May regarding the observance of “July Uprising Day 2026” have been sent to all concerned ministries, departments, and agencies.

Instructions have been given to take necessary measures to implement the decisions taken at the meeting.

According to the ministry’s letter, extensive preparations are underway, from the top level of the government down to the field administration, to observe the day nationally.

For this purpose, nearly all government institutions in the country have been involved, including the Cabinet Division, Prime Minister’s Office, Armed Forces Division, various ministries and divisions, law enforcement agencies, district administrations, city corporations, and upazila administrations.

Memorandums have been sent to the cabinet secretary, the prime minister’s principal secretary, the chiefs of the three armed services, and senior secretaries and secretaries of various ministries for implementing the minutes.

Simultaneously, instructions have been given to the Bangladesh Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, RAB, BGB, Ansar and VDP, Coast Guard, National Security Intelligence (NSI), Directorate General of Defence Intelligence (DGFI), and relevant security agencies including the Dhaka Metropolitan Police to take necessary preparations.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, Department of Information, and Department of Mass Communication have been asked to conduct publicity campaigns highlighting the significance of the day.

According to sources, the minutes also contain directives for undertaking various discussion meetings, reminiscence sessions, cultural programmes, photography exhibitions, and special publications at the national level.

As part of the field administration, the minutes have also been sent to all divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, upazila executive officers, superintendents of police, and officer-in-charges of police stations.

Consequently, it is anticipated that, alongside the central programmes, comprehensive programmes will be undertaken at the divisional, district, and upazila levels to observe the day.

The ministries and divisions concerned with education, culture, youth and sports, local government, health, agriculture, transport, religion, social welfare, science and technology, women and children affairs, expatriate welfare, environment, commerce, and information technology have been involved in the preparations for celebrating the day.

This has created the potential for special sector-based events alongside national-level programmes.

Meanwhile, the National Muktijoddha Council, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Welfare Trust, Liberation War Museum, Bangladesh Scouts, BNCC, and Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad have also been informed to participate in the activities.
