Two ex-army officers arrested in Dhaka

Police have arrested two former army officers in connection with cases filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act and the Cyber Security Act.

They were arrested during a raid in the capital on Sunday night, said Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, additional commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch.

The arrestees are Brigadier General (retd) Debashish Kumar Barua and Lieutenant (retd) Gulshan Ara.

According to detective sources, Debashish was arrested over alleged links to Gulshan Ara, who is an accused in cases filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act and the Cyber Security Act.
