Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday released fish fry into the Brahmaputra River in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj as part of the observance of National Fisheries Week 2026.
The Prime Minister reached Pakundia at around 11:30am, his Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon said.
Upon arrival, Tarique Rahman released fish fry into the Brahmaputra near Mirzapur Chairman Bari Ghat.
Earlier, the Prime Minister left his Gulshan residence in Dhaka at around 9:15am for Kishoreganj.
Hundreds of party leaders and activists, as well as women and children, gathered on both sides of the road along his route from Dhaka to Kishoreganj to greet him, according to the Additional Press Secretary.
The Prime Minister waved back and acknowledged the crowds with a smile.
Following his programme in Pakundia, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit the Katiadi Card Hatchery Complex.
Later in the afternoon, he will formally inaugurate National Fisheries Week 2026 and distribute the National Fisheries Awards at the George Institute Mini Stadium in Achmita.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to participate in a tree-planting programme at Sholakia Ground and distribute Family Cards at Kishoreganj Stadium.
