Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former MP Mia Golam Porwar on Saturday said the party’s responsible leaders must play a “leading role” in establishing justice and fairness in the country. He further said the movement must continue until the July National Charter is implemented and the verdict of the referendum is enforced.
To this end, Porwar called for ensuring a standard of taqwa (God-consciousness) among party members at all levels and building God-fearing leadership.
He made the remarks as the chief guest at a party conference organized by Naogaon district Jamaat at the local Upazila Parishad auditorium at 9am on Saturday.
He said the party must strengthen its organization and ensure victory in the upcoming local government elections by fielding candidates at all levels of the polls.
Describing Jamaat workers as social workers, he said they must stand beside the people and play an effective role in resolving their various problems. He also called on the government to curb the rising prices of essential commodities, including fuel and gas, and bring them down to affordable levels.
The conference was presided over by KM Abdur Rakib, ameer of Jamaat’s Naogaon district unit and a member of the party’s Central Majlis-e-Shura. Jamaat Central Organizational Secretary Professor Rafiqul Islam and Central Working Committee member Professor Nazrul Islam addressed the conference as special guests.
