137kg cannabis worth Tk34.25 lakh seized in Ashulia

The Special Response Battalion (SRB)-4 has detained two suspected drug traders with 137kg of cannabis in Ashulia area of Dhaka.

The seized cannabis is estimated to be worth around Tk34.25 lakh, according to SRB-4.

The suspects, identified as Md Shahin Alam, 23, and Md Babul, 32, were arrested during a raid at Bogabari Bazar in Dhamsona Union on Tuesday (6 October) afternoon.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of SRB-4 conducted the operation and recovered the cannabis from their possession.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspects said that they collected cannabis from various border areas and sold it in Ashulia, Savar, Dhamrai and surrounding areas, SRB-4 claimed.

The two were handed over to the relevant police station for legal action.
