BNP Acting Secretary General and Prime Minister’s Political Adviser Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has accused associates of the ousted regime of making various attempts to put the elected government in difficulty and destabilise the country.
“They are making various attempts to create trouble for an elected government and destabilise the country. They are engaging in acts of sabotage,” he said.
Rizvi made the remarks on Wednesday (7 October) while distributing leaflets as part of a dengue awareness campaign on the Bangladesh Medical University campus.
He urged people to remain vigilant, saying the government would not tolerate anarchy or criminal activities.
“The government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is a government of the people. There will be no compromise with anarchy or crime,” he said.
On dengue prevention, Rizvi stressed the importance of raising awareness, saying the disease could be controlled to a large extent through early preventive measures.
He called for collective efforts to combat dengue and said the government had arranged free dengue testing at government hospitals.
Alongside raising public awareness, he stressed the importance of keeping homes and surrounding areas clean.
Rizvi said the prime minister had instructed authorities to remove stagnant and polluted water quickly to prevent the creation of breeding grounds for dengue mosquitoes.
The leaflet distribution programme also urged people to keep their homes and surroundings clean and remove stagnant water to help prevent the spread of dengue.
